Causes of Side Foot Pain

The side of the foot is viewed by many doctors as the most fragile area of the whole foot.  You may wonder why this is the case. Many people claim that this may just be a fairy tale. Even if you do not exert much pressure on this part mainly through tight shoes, the bones on the sides of the leg are pretty fragile. Biologists claim that there are well over fifty bones in this area.  This means that the fracture of even one bone can cause serious side foot pain. You therefore need to be very careful when exposing your legs to dangerous situations. You might hurt so much considering that this is a part of the foot that has the most bones.

When considering foot pain, we cannot just make a conclusion that the bones are fractured.  In the event you feel pains after getting involved in a new exercise, the exercise may be linked directly to the pains that you may be experiencing.  The slightest of shifts of tendons or even bones in the side of the foot can cause very serous side foot pain.  If the pains are experienced after exercising, a simple home remedy like soaking the foot in warm water and massaging it can help much.  If you try this and still the pain persists, you then might need to consult a physician. Probably you might have broken a small bone on the side of the foot.

There are many medical conditions that are closely linked with side of foot pain.  Tendinitis can develop from the ‘meager pains on the side of the foot’.  Tendinitis, just like the name suggests may wear down the tendons.  The tendons are extremely vital in offering stability to the foot. Their degeneration means that you will not be able to support your feet very well.  The side foot pain will also tend to persist as well. Always make sure that before you act on any part of the foot before even deciding to seek advice from a doctor.

The causes of side foot pain are vast. Different medics have different arguments relating to this issue.  Tendonitis is the major culprit. It causes the diffusion of pains mainly to the heels. This is due to wearing narrow shoes that exert much pressure on the sides of the foot.  This irritates the tendons that are found in these areas.  Arch collapse can result in pains towards the inside of the foot.

A bunion can be a cause of pain on the side of the foot.  This is a bump that develops inside the foot behind the big toe. This occurs on the inner part of the foot while a similar condition called the tailors bunions is what affects the outer parts of the foot.

Fracture on the other hand can also cause pains on the side of the foot. Stress fractures that affect the small toe may result in pinching pains on the side of the foot. This can be easily suspected if previously you never had such trauma conditions.
